AMANDA COLBORN
PERFORMER. MANAGER. CHOREOGRAPHER.
about
Amanda (she/her) is currently attending Oklahoma City University to obtain her Bachelor's in Science for Dance and Arts Management. While she has a focus in Arts Management, she has passion for performing, teaching, and managing. Her love for performing began at the young age of 2, when she started dance at Main Street Dance in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. She continued to pursue dance for 15 more years after that, joining the competitive team and performing in competitions for at least 10 of those years. Bonding with her teammates and pushing herself are some of her fondest memories.
Amanda graduated from Garner Magnet High School in 2020. During freshman year, she was introduced to technical theatre. She instantly fell in love with the idea of creating a story and ran with it. She participated in the making of the sets for the entirety of her high school career. Through this she gained carpentry skills, scenic painting skills, leadership attributes, and an abundance of knowledge surrounding the technical theatre side of the entertainment industry. Also while in high school, she joined her schools chorus. This is where she started her singing journey. The advanced chorus, or The Die Meister Singers, received many awards as one of the top choruses in the state. She went on to compete individually in the All-State Nationals in North Carolina and placed in the Top 8 Alto's in the state. She also received a perfect score during the sight reading portion of the competition. She gained a lot of experience in classical singing and training under her choir director, Sam Wanamaker.
During her last few years at Main Street Dance, she began to grow a passion for teaching and choreography. She had the opportunity to teach all age ranges at her studio, and learned a lot of great tools to be able to teach in the future. It wasn't until her first summer in college when she realized she had a real passion to teach high school and up. She has choreographed numbers for the studios competition team and taught several classes during her college career. In the future, she hopes to choreograph more serious group dances!
