Choreography
Choreographing has been a passion of Amanda's since a young age. Watching the choreographic process take place on so many guest choreographers in her studio ignited a fire in her that she would carry for the rest of her life. One of her many dreams is to own a studio or performing arts academy after her personal career. She created a Dance Studio Plan in a course in college titled "Dance Studio Management". She created a performing arts academy for ages 16 and up; this was the first time she could see herself actually creating a studio with the steps to make it come true. She hopes to choreograph many pieces and projects in her life, and has some exciting things planned for the future!
This is a dance Amanda choreographed for her old dance studio, Main Street Dance, located in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. The title of this piece is "The Woods" with the intent being "to get out of something bad and finally be free". The following clips show parts of her choreographic process as she created the piece. Amanda believes that bonding with her cast is important to gain a mutual respect throughout her time there. She was particularly close with the cast in these videos because she used to dance with them when she was younger! This made it so she could do more choreographic experiments with them and ultimately made the process much smoother.
